How Bistable Solenoids Work
Bistable solenoids use permanent magnets to maintain the plunger in both extended and retracted positions. When a short pulse of current is applied in one direction, the plunger moves to one position and stays there without power. Applying current in the opposite direction moves it to the other position. This design is perfect for applications where power consumption must be minimized.
